The Polar Express

Because we didn't visit anyone for Christmas this year, we really wanted to make it special and so we got on the bandwagon and bought some pricey tickets for our family to go on the Polar Express a few days before Christmas. I was so excited to do something so magical right at Christmas...but then we found out we were moving! The tickets were non-refundable, but we were able to change the date so we could still go. We ended up going at the beginning of November. It was totally bizarre seeing Santa and being wished Merry Christmas when I wasn't even thinking about that time of year, but it was still incredibly magical and the boys loved it. A memory I that I hope will forever be engrained in my mind is James's reaction to seeing the North Pole out the train windows. He epitomized the magic of Christmas in his expression and it was so fun. The train ride consisted of hot chocolate, cookies, listening to the Polar Express story, singing carols, seeing the North Pole, and then Santa boarding the train to give each child their very own bell. It was pretty fun and we were glad we didn't miss it.
