Thatcher

Last week Ty took the training wheels off of Thatcher's bike while I was getting dinner ready and he was riding on his own by the time we ate dessert. When he wakes up he tells me about his dreams about riding his "pedal bike" and is pretty amazing at going fast, maneuvering, and controlling himself. I am so impressed with my little barely four-year-old bike rider.

This week was Thatcher's first day back at preschool. It is just a group of friends doing it together and trading off, but we are hoping it goes well. Thatcher was so excited to be back in school and had a great first day learning about sharks, fish, shells, and the beach.

Since St. George, Thatcher loves catching anything that crawls and is gross. While having a man to man talk out by the lake, Ty found Thatcher a dead crawdad. It was huge and Thatcher slept with it and carried it around for a couple of days until it mysteriously disappeared after mom kept finding too many little pieces of dead crawdad around the house.

Today we found a baby lizard in our house and the boys have been in heaven. We took him to the park where all of Thatcher's friends got to hold him and Thatcher has not let go of him almost all day. He didn't understand what the big deal was when I told him to get the lizard off of Hadley, then off of my computer, then why he couldn't give the lizard kisses.

Thatcher is the best kid. He is so respectful, appreciative, loving, and obedient. I love him and his stories, his love for Hadley, his imagination, and how much he loves learning. He loves making words (the other day he spelled 'jump' with his letters) and learning new things. He has always been my special little buddy and he still is. He really is the best.

st. george

We got to spend a few days in St. George with the Martins. We had a lot of fun swimming (or what my kids do which is sit on the steps or float around with life vest, floaties, and in an innertube all at the same time), eating a ton of junk, watching the olympics, hiking (as much as we can with all our kids), playing with frogs the adults caught each night, wake boarding at a new wake board park where you get pulled by a cable instead of a boat, playing "the game of things", and just being together with cousins and family. Thatcher was pretty devastated when we told him he couldn't go home with Redding and James is still talking about Ann Dee. It is so fun to have cousins the same age as my kids.

potty-trained

James has been making trips to the potty since January. If naked, he has been accident-free since January, but I never pushed him becoming fully potty trained knowing that with his stubborn personality it would probably have to be his idea. I have been rewarding him and encouraging him a lot more the last weeks and I believe we have arrived. He has done great the last few days. We have been out of the house, in public restrooms, and he even has new spiderman underwear. Here is my big boy.
