Thanksgiving and house hunting

November was a whirlwind and Thanksgiving week was no exception. I got very little sleep before Thanksgiving trying to be as prepared as I could to look for a house. I probably printed off close to a hundred listings of places for rent and tried to do as much research as possible on schools, neighborhoods, and areas that I knew nothing about. We left the week before Thanksgiving and drove to Salt Lake, stayed there a night, left the boys with Ty's family, then headed to Denver in a rush to make our first appointment. We saw 7 or so homes when we walked through a beautiful little house that I loved. The owner had been holding it for us because he has really liked me over the phone and he was anxious for a decision and so we wrote out a deposit check. We left and started to cancel our remaining appointments for the night and I lost it. I felt sick about what we had done and just felt strongly that it wasn't the right place for us. Ty agreed and so we spent the rest of the evening seeing another home and going home to pray about the predicament we were in. The next day we backed out of the rental we had written the check for and saw close to 20 houses that day. We had dinner with Ty's cousin, Jenna, and her family which was a nice break. They lived in Castle Rock that I had heard good things about but we hadn't seen any homes there that we were impressed by. The next day we saw even more places and were ready to make a decision when I found one last listing I wanted to check out. It was in Castle Rock and had just been listed and it was (and is) perfect for us. It was pretty crazy finding such a good fit and we tried to get everything squared away before heading back to Salt Lake.

We joined Ty's family in Midway for Thanksgiving. It was so nice to relax after our crazy Denver trip. We swam, ate, made gingerbread men, went on walks, and just took it easy before heading back to Flagstaff to pack up our life and move in less than a week's time.

James decided to decorate his gingerbread man with cheese puffs. It didn't last long because, seriously, who can resist cheese puffs?
